Dwarika’s Hotel hosts Indra Jatra festival

Dwarika's Hotel is hosting events for Indra Jatra, Nepal's prominent cultural festival dedicated to Lord Indra, marking the end of the monsoon season. This year, the eight-day festival began on September 10 and will conclude on September 17, featuring cultural performances, traditional rituals, and community engagement in Kathmandu.

A significant aspect of the festival includes a procession with a wooden chariot carrying the Living Goddess Kumari, surrounded by masked dancers and numerous devotees. On September 17, Dwarika's Hotel and Dwarika's Resort will recreate the festival atmosphere for guests.

Guests will experience a welcoming ritual with Aila, a traditional Newari drink, followed by the Kumari Puja. The evening features various performances, such as the Bhairav Dance, Devi Dance, and Aarati Dance, which reflect Nepal's cultural heritage. One key performance is the Lakhey Dance, showcasing mythical figures in an engaging display.

Additionally, attendees can participate in the chariot-pulling ceremony, embodying the spirit of the festival. A buffet of Newari delicacies, including the traditional dish Samaybaji, will complement the events, alongside live barbecues and a selection of beverages.
