Somany Ceramics Limited, one of the leaders in the Indian ceramic industry, further strengthened their product portfolio with the introduction of the Duragres Tesoro collection, a marque range from Somany’s luxury collection.
A premium range of colour body tiles, this collection has 5 different product ranges namely Metal Series, Stone Series, Wood Series, Marble Series, and Impression Series, available in both unpolished and polished finishes. Each range mirrors a particular natural finish such as exotic stones, marble, granite, metal or different wood patterns while remaining true to the design aesthetics of the brand.
With the consumers becoming more environmentally aware, there is a visible shift amongst brands to create eco-friendly products to offer consumers a greener living. Duragres Tesoro range of tiles are perfect for consumers who want to create ecologically responsible designs for their homes along with the added convenience of the ease of installation and resistance to natural wear and tear.
Speaking at the launch, Abhishek Somany, MD, Somany Ceramics, said, “The R&D team at Somany Ceramics has been working relentlessly to create the most realistic replicas of natural materials using the finest closing systems which insert rich colour pigments into the tiles making their surface designs last for long. This introduction of Duragres Tesoro collection is an attractive value proposition for the customers as they can now get the most natural looking flooring for their homes at a reasonable price without the inconvenience of laying and wear and tear prevalent in natural materials.”
He further explained how the collection is aspirational too. “It is not going to be restricted to Tesoro as we have chosen certain models and products from each of our portfolios – Vitro, Ceramic – and that’s given to limited number of dealers that’s why it becomes more aspirational with good price points.”
Talking about the increasing purchasing power in India, Somany says, “It is only going up with people becoming more aspirational. We are amongst the top 10 manufacturers worldwide and have created price points for every kind of customer. From masses to a bespoke range or a couture range, we are catering to all range of products and have tried to incorporate certain attributes in the product to make it look better.”
For the hospitality sector, sanitary ware is a huge category and Somany rightly points out that, “Hotel groups like The Leela, The Oberoi or The Taj generally lean towards natural stones whereas budget or four star hotels still demand tiles. More people in the hospitality industry are trying to get closer to natural stone or use a tile which is more user friendly and cleanliness friendly and at the same time maintain a look of wood or marble.” Tiles are ready to fit, pre-mirror polished, calibrated to fix thickness, computerised edge cut corrugated box packed whereas marbles have to be cut, polished and maintained well.
Referring to the internal challenges in the implementation of GST, Somany feels that people are still getting used to new billing process and this is going to take a while. “For our industry it has remained 28% as it used to be earlier. On the other hand we are doing a massive expansion so there will be huge uptakes next year.”
With eco-friendly homes, there is a significant increase in the demand for faux, recycled or reclaimed flooring options that help in preserving a little bit of the planet. This is where Duragres Tesoro perfectly fits in to cater to these changing customer requirements.
Each range of Tesoro tiles are a piece of art to adorn one’s home and is available in the sizes of 600*600mm and 600*1200mm. The collection starts from INR. 90 and goes up to INR 180 per square feet and is available across India at all Somany Exclusive Stores and Experience Centres.
