For over a century, Diversey has been a global leader in providing products and solutions related to cleaning and hygiene to all Institutional customers,” says Kartik Iyengar, Business Director - Hospitality, South Asia, Diversey, elaborating on the legacy of Diversey’s waste management solutions.

He further adds, “Diversey specialises in offering a portfolio that helps customers in managing and maintaining the brand standards through various applications like Fabric care, Kitchen Care, Building Care, Floor Care and Personal Care applications. Diversey works on a total cost of ownership proposition where we engage with customers and ensure that our products are used in the most efficient manner possible and reduce waste through use of solutions that use less plastics like Concentrated platforms or through auto dosing systems."

Sustainable Waste Management
Waste management is key for any institution especially the hospitality industry in order to attain sustainability goals as well as a clean and hygienic experience for the guests. Iyengar elaborates on how Diversey’s waste management solutions help institutions to maintain hygiene standards, stating, “Our solutions which include the Product formulations and packaging, Tools, Procedures and Trainings are built in a manner where there is minimal impact on the land fill and environment. Some of the examples include Clax Advance low temperature Laundry programme that extends life of the linen and saves water during the process, other examples include Flush Me Not water less urinal programme. The Diversey CSR initiatives are also built on the foundation of sustainability, global programmes such as Soap for Hope, Linens for Life, Plastic shreds and CoffeeBriques.”

He further notes, “By keeping customer operations at the core Diversey ensures sustainable waste management solutions through launching innovative products and programmes that reduce, reuse and recycle waste. There are multiple approaches that go in the same direction right from formulating new chemistry for cleaning and hygiene, designing the packaging material so that it can be recycled and educating and continuous training of the users of our products to be able to reduce the loads on the land fill and thus eliminating waste.”

Technological Innovations
Diversey uses technological innovations to reduce waste in institutions, Iyengar explains, “We are working on further reducing the water need and temperature needed in Laundry by offering programmes that can run at room temperature. This ensures that the life of Linen is enhanced apart from the savings in utility for the hotels. Similarly, we are working on a new Air care programme Good Sense Solo that can help convert Smoking rooms to nonsmoking rooms quickly and also take care of Mould malodor. We are soon going to introduce a range of Wet amenities that will replace single use plastic currently used for Shower Gels, Shampoos and hand wash. We are also re-introducing a Dish washing programme that will enable customers to buy or rent dish washing machine equipment from Diversey. As an endeavour to eliminate the five Litre bulk packaging we have introduced concentrated solutions with Divermite, Smart Pouch and Smart Dose options.

Future and Expansion
Shedding light on the future outlook and expansion plans of the waste management brand Iyengar states, “We are strengthening our commercial teams and adding more people to be able to cover the diverse geography of the Indian subcontinent. We are also increasing our distribution footprint to be able to reach and service the market better. We are using social media extensively to promote new products and services and have planned Pan India engagement events like Inspiria, Hygie India to be able to connect, share and take feedback from key customers on how these solutions will benefit them on a longer term basis.”
