HYATT PLACE Gurgaon has recently hired Chef Prathamesh Kumta as the head of its Culinary operations which include Gallery Cafe - an all day dining restaurant & Bar, Events and In Room dining. As Head Chef, he will be in charge of overseeing all the culinary aspects of the kitchen, menus, training modules and, most importantly, securing the standards of excellence and innovative elements expected by both the domestic and international patrons.
Chef Kumta has over 13 years of experience in the hospitality industry and has proved his competence and skill in every endeavor that he has undertaken. While he specializes in Pan Asian Cuisine, his experiences across the country and abroad have honed his expertise in Western and Indian cuisine as well.
After completing his Diploma from Institute of Hotel Management, Chennai, he embarked on his culinary journey with IHG at Intercontinental The Grand, Mumbai moving onto Grand Hyatt, Mumbai as a part of the pre–opening team of restaurant China House. From Mumbai to Sheraton Full Moon in Maldives, Kumta came back to India to join Hilton in Bangalore. His last assignment before moving back to the Hyatt was with The Leela Ambience Gurgaon where he was overseeing the large and complex multi-cuisine restaurant Spectra. Both China House and Spectra are considered some of the best world-class restaurants in India and have individually won awards while Kumta was associated with them.
“I am really excited about this new and challenging opportunity and the huge responsibility that comes with it. I look forward to working together with my team, support them and give my best to enhance the food and beverage operations and guest experience at Hyatt Place Gurgaon,” said Chef Kumta.
“I am happy to welcome Prathamesh back to the Hyatt family. I look forward to working with him as he takes on this exciting new venture armed with fresh ideas, enthusiasm and interesting food concepts to take our culinary offerings to a new level”, said Maulina Gupta, General Manager, Hyatt Place Gurgaon. “His background and interests make him uniquely equipped to take on this challenging role & I am delighted to have him in my team.” she added.
Though Chef Kumta has great expertise in all kinds of cuisine, he personally enjoys cooking Thai dishes mostly due to the variety of ingredients used in it and the flavour it creates when put together. His signature style of cooking is to give traditional recipes a twist of modernity using garden-fresh ingredients, keeping the simplicity of the dishes intact.
