In the density of the wilderness, where untamed landscapes narrate tales of survival and beauty, a new chapter is being written, one that ties the knot of raw allure of nature with the sophistication of luxury. From the majestic roar of tigers in dense reserves to the quiet chirping of exotic birds at dawn, India’s wildlife offers experiences that are both awe-inspiring and soul-stirring. Yet, for many adventurers, the lack of comfortable accommodation has often been a discouragement.
This gap between nature and hospitality is where Jungle Camps India Limited (JCIL) steps in. Under the visionary leadership of Gajendra Singh Rathore, JCIL is redefining wildlife tourism by creating bespoke travel experiences that combine the thrill of the wild with the elegance of world-class luxury. Through an innovative approach to hospitality, JCIL is unlocking the potential of India's lesser-known tiger reserves and tranquil natural landscapes, making them accessible without sacrificing comfort or sustainability.
Sharing his vision of creating transformative travel experiences that merge luxury with nature, he says, "There's an ambitious plan to develop unique hospitality properties across India, JCIL aims to tap into the country’s unexplored gems while catering to the growing demand for serene and adventure-filled getaways."
"Many popular wildlife destinations have reached saturation," Rathore explained. "Our focus is on less-explored tiger reserves and tranquil locations that offer authentic experiences where one can truly immerse themselves in the wilderness without the crowds."
IPO to Drive Expansion
JCIL’s ambitious plans are set to gain momentum with its upcoming IPO, scheduled for subscription from December 10 to 12. The company aims to raise Rs 29.42 crore, which will be used to fund several transformative projects. These include the development of a four-star heritage hotel in Mathura through its subsidiary, Madhuvan Hospitality Private Limited, with an allocation of Rs 11.5 crore. An additional Rs 7 crore will be invested in creating a scenic resort at the Sanjay Dubri Tiger Reserve in Madhya Pradesh. In contrast, Rs 3.5 crore will go towards upgrading the existing Pench Jungle Camp.
The funds will fuel JCIL’s property expansions, bolster its operational capabilities, and support long-term corporate objectives.
Expanding into untapped markets
JCIL is strategically focussing on lesser-explored regions across India, aiming to offer unique and immersive experiences in locations that are relatively untouched by commercial tourism.
In Mathura, the company is developing a 100-room hotel on a 3,000 sq m site leased from UP Tourism. “This project will be a significant addition to the hospitality landscape in Mathura, offering world-class amenities,” Rathore stated. He also emphasised the importance of this project, calling it a significant addition to the hospitality landscape of Mathura.
The Sanjay Dubri Tiger Reserve in Madhya Pradesh will host a new resort situated along a picturesque riverbank. “The location is picturesque, and the design will harmonise with the forest,” he said. Another key development is in Sheopur, near Kuno National Park, with its proximity to Ranthambore and Kuno National Park, this destination is positioned as ideal for weddings, parties, and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) events. Rathore noted, “It has excellent connectivity to Delhi and offers unmatched convenience.”
In Kukru, near the Melghat Tiger Reserve, JCIL is venturing into hill-station hospitality leveraging their first-mover advantage in this unexplored location. “Kukru is a hidden treasure,” Rathore remarked. “By creating infrastructure here, we’ll unlock its potential as a tranquil getaway.”
Meeting the demand for personalised travel
JCIL is adapting to shifting travel trends, particularly the rise of personalised and quieter travel experiences. Younger travellers, especially from Gen Z, are increasingly seeking destinations that offer meaningful and experiential escapes.
“We’ve introduced activities like jungle walks and breakfast celebrations in the wilderness,” Rathore highlighted. “These adventure-themed offerings are gaining popularity and align with Gen Z’s desire for unique, meaningful experiences.”
To reach and engage this audience, JCIL has also strengthened its social media presence. “We started social media marketing only five or six months ago, but it’s already proving effective in reaching new audiences,” Rathore added.
Sustained financial growth
JCIL’s financial performance has been equally remarkable. In FY24, the company achieved a 61 per cent year-on-year growth in revenue, reaching Rs 18.10 crore, with an eight-fold increase in profit after tax. Rathore attributed this success to the company’s commitment to quality and sustainability across its projects.
Looking ahead, JCIL plans to manage over 170 new accommodations, spanning luxury resorts and boutique properties. The upcoming IPO marks a significant step in its journey toward becoming a leading name in India’s eco-tourism and luxury hospitality sectors, underscoring its vision of delivering transformative travel experiences.
