JW Marriott Kolkata has announced a culinary event that promises to transport guests to the heart of one of the oldest living cities in the world. The Varanasi Cuisine Brunch, set to take place on August 11, 2024 at JW Kitchen, aims to bring the essence of Varanasi to Kolkata, offering a rich tapestry of flavours, history, and traditions. The brunch will feature a variety of appetisers, main courses, accompaniments, breads, desserts, and beverages that capture the city’s vibrant food culture. This event highlights the deep-rooted connection between Kolkata and Varanasi, two cities that share a profound cultural and culinary bond.
Guests can look forward to a menu that includes classic Varanasi dishes. Appetisers such as Kachori Sabzi, crisp kachoris stuffed with spiced lentils served with a flavorful potato curry; Chura Matar, flattened rice stir-fried with green peas, spices, and herbs; and Tamatar Chaat, a tangy and spicy tomato-based chaat, will start the feast. Main courses will feature Baati Chokha, roasted wheat balls with mashed spiced vegetables and ghee; Litti Chokha, dough balls stuffed with sattu served with spiced mashed vegetables; and Dal Puri, deep-fried bread stuffed with spiced lentils accompanied by Aloo Rasa. The brunch will also offer accompaniments like Banarasi Dum Aloo, Nimona, a traditional green pea curry, and Varanasi Style Paneer. Breads include Puri and Paratha. Desserts will not disappoint, with offerings like Malaiyyo, Launglata, and Kesar Jalebi. Beverages such as Thandai, Aam Panna, and Kullhad Chai will complement the meal. Additionally, live cooking stations will allow guests to witness the preparation of popular Varanasi street foods.
