Air India has introduced a new service, ‘Fly Prior’, aimed at providing greater flexibility for passengers flying within India. The service allows travellers to change their flight and board an alternative flight up to 12 hours earlier, as long as both flights are on the same day. This move is designed to accommodate last-minute changes to travel plans, whether for an unscheduled appointment or simply to reach a destination earlier.
The ‘Fly Prior’ service is available exclusively at Air India’s ticketing counters and check-in desks across India. Gold and Platinum members of the airline’s Flying Returns loyalty program can avail of the service for free, while other passengers can opt for the service at an additional cost.
Fees for the service are based on flight routes: Rs 2,199 for major city routes like Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai, and Pune, and Rs 1,499 for flights to or from other Indian destinations.
Upon opting for the service, guests will receive instant booking confirmation and their checked baggage will be immediately accepted. Any previously purchased ancillary services, like excess baggage or priority handling, will also be transferred to the new flight. However, seat selections and special meal requests will not be carried over.
