Turkish Airlines has added a new menu item, ‘The Oldest Bread,’ to its Business Class service, made from ancient Einkorn and Emmer wheat native to Anatolia. Officially introduced on flight TK3 from Istanbul to New York on September 22, 2024, the bread is served warm with butter and olive oil, prepared by Turkish DO&CO in Istanbul.

The introduction includes a short film shot in historical sites like Göbeklitepe, highlighting the bread's deep roots in Turkish culinary tradition and its significance in global food history.

On the recent inflight dining addition, Turkish Airlines Chairman of the Board and the Executive Committee Ahmet Bolat stated, "As the flag carrier that offers the world's finest flavours to its guests and receiving numerous accolades for it from world-renowned organisations, we are pleased to introduce our business class travellers to the world’s oldest bread grown from the reproduction of ancient wheat discovered in excavations in the Anatolia region. With this bread, traditional to Turkish cuisine and significant to global culinary history, we aim to blend past and present together on our inflight guest experiences. We hope that our new menu item will be appreciated by our guests as we continue our award-winning leadership in the field of inflight dining."

With a commitment to high-quality in-flight dining, Turkish Airlines sources 80 per cent of its menu ingredients from local producers, maintaining its reputation for exceptional culinary offerings.
