Patrik Ilstam appointed General Manager of Anantara Koh Yao Yai Resort

Minor Hotels has introduced Patrik Ilstam as the new General Manager of the luxurious Anantara Koh Yao Yai Resort and Villas. This lavish resort, boasting 148 opulent rooms, suites, and villas, is poised to grace Thailand's picturesque Koh Yao Yai island. 

Ilstam, an accomplished pre-opening hotelier, brings a wealth of experience, having occupied key leadership positions in upscale hotels across Southeast Asia for the past two decades. His most recent role was as the General Manager of the renowned Burasari Phuket Resort, where he expertly navigated the challenges posed by the pandemic. Moreover, under his stewardship, the establishment established a 'Green Committee' that implemented sustainable operational strategies, ultimately earning the prestigious Green Hotel Gold Level award.

Ilstam's professional journey includes an extensive background in hotel operations, commencing with various room division roles within Marriott International and Starwood Hotels and Resorts in Thailand, Malaysia, and Vietnam. He has also been integral to the pre-opening success of several hotels and resorts, such as the Sheraton Grand Danang Resort and Sheraton Hoi An Tam Ky in Vietnam and Le Meridien Kota Kinabalu in Malaysia. 

William Costley, Senior Vice President of Operations (Asia) for Minor Hotels, expressed enthusiasm about the latest addition to their leadership team, stating, "With his extensive experience, passion for service, and commitment to sustainability," Regarding the growth of the property, he further added, “We are confident that he will establish Anantara’s newest resort in Thailand as a preeminent destination for families and couples looking for a private island-style experience in a stunning natural setting only a 45-minute boat ride from Phuket." 

Patrik Ilstam himself conveyed his excitement regarding the new role, stating, "I am very excited to join Anantara Koh Yao Yai, a spectacular new signature resort with extensive luxury offerings, wellness facilities, and never-before-seen family and children’s amenities on one of Thailand’s last untouched islands. I look forward to working together with the amazing team here to create memorable experiences for our guests and contribute to Thailand’s reputation as one of the world’s major tourism hubs." 

Hailing from Sweden, Ilstam holds a diploma from the International Tourism and Hotel Management School in Thailand. In his free time, he indulges in spending quality moments with his family and enjoys diverse hobbies ranging from aerospace technology to travel.
