Meluha ,The Fern an ecotel hotel at Hiranandani Gardens, Powai organised a session on waste management and the specifics of a green building for the citizens of Powai. A large number of residents of the area participated in the session which focused on the process of efficient waste management in societies. TV actor Nitish Pandey was present at the event
Elaborating about the various technological advances, Area General Manager, Punish B Sharma Meluha, The Fern said, “Meluha-The Fern is the first LEED Gold (Leadership in Energy and Environment Design) and Ecotel Certified Hotel. LEED is an internationally recognized Green building certification system. The Gold certified building design exhibits state-of-the-art architecture, sustainable systems and technologies. “
The Ecotel Certification enables the hotel to become sustainable by reducing the environment impact of day-to-day operations; becoming financially more viable and socially responsible, the area GM added.
The green building uses a high efficiency heating and cooling system, Cool roof system, Energy efficient lighting, Rain water harvesting systems, low-flow faucets and flushes, etc, he informed.
The guests are very pleased with our design, layout of the hotel, aesthetics, and sustainability practices. This is evident from our very high guest satisfaction index, he concluded.
Aldrina Fernandes, Environment Officer of Meluha the Fern discussed about the aspects of an ecotel and a green building. She spoke about sustainable sites, waste, energy, water management and community engagement.
Informing about the Sewage treatment Plant she said, “The waste water of the hotel is treated with latest technology and then further reused in areas like the air conditioning plant, flushinggardening and for new constructions within the complex”.
