HRAWI refutes claims of alcohol restrictions on New Year's Eve

HRAWI’s clarification comes amidst concerns about the potential impact of such misleading reports on the hospitality industry, which is gearing up for one of the busiest nights of the year

The Hotel and Restaurant Association of Western India (HRAWI) has dismissed recent media reports suggesting that alcohol service on New Year’s Eve will be limited to four large drinks (90 ml each) per guest. The Association has clarified that no such restrictions are in place, calling the reports inaccurate and misleading.

“As always, we have advised our members to ensure smooth, lawful, and responsible operations during the upcoming festive season. Our guidelines prioritise safety, compliance, and guest satisfaction. While there is an advisory emphasising responsible bartending and celebrations, it does not impose any limits on the number of drinks served to guests. The focus remains on measures such as verifying the age of patrons, managing inebriated guests responsibly, offering valet services, and arranging safe transportation options like Ola or Uber,” says Pradeep Shetty, Spokesperson, HRAWI.

HRAWI emphasised that its members are committed to ensuring a safe and enjoyable celebration for all guests. Establishments have been advised to follow responsible alcohol service practices while maintaining a welcoming atmosphere. Special training has been provided to bartenders and staff to manage New Year’s Eve festivities safely.

The advisory also encourages venues to implement measures for guest safety, including assisting intoxicated individuals with transport arrangements or hiring designated drivers to ensure they return home without incident.

“This is a season of celebration, and we want our patrons to have an enjoyable experience. Our guidance simply promotes responsible bartending, responsible drinking, and safe partying,” concludes Shetty.

HRAWI’s clarification comes amidst concerns about the potential impact of such misleading reports on the hospitality industry, which is gearing up for one of the busiest nights of the year. The Association reiterated its dedication to balancing guest enjoyment with community safety.
