Cafe Out of The Box Plans to Open 50 Outlets in Five Years

LAUNCHED IN the years 2011, Café Out of The Box (OTB) plans to expand extensively over the years. With a plan to open 25 restaurants in the next three years, the restaurant ultimately eyes for 50 outlets by 2023. Out of the 25 restaurants targeted in three years, 20 percent of the restaurants will be self-owned and the rest will be franchise owned. For the present years, we will be witnessing three new outlets, i.e., in Connaught Place and Hauz Khas in Delhi whereas one in Chandigarh.

Speaking about the expansion plans, Udit Bagga and Udit Bhasin, Directors, Café OTB said, “The expansion will take place in tier two and tier three cities as well. Seeing the scope of growth in tier two and tier three cities and due to the scarcity of a known and trusted brand, we plan to open up more outlets there to increase customer base. Therefore, we are looking at around 200 crores of revenue with the 50 outlets that we plan to open in five years.”

Café OTB has gross margins of 60-65 percent on the revenue and their Khan Market outlet is doing profitably well because of its prime location. After converting Dehradun based hotel’s restaurant into the Café OTB outlet, the brand has observed an increase in sales by 300 percent and profits by 500 percent.

Over seven years, Café OTB has become an everyday meet-up place for people from different walks of life catering to all age group. “We at Cafe Out of the Box understood the gap in the market and came up with this concept of serving global cuisine in an all-day dining concept. These days there concept based restaurants are opening up that specialize in specific cuisine because there is a higher cost involved in hiring more chefs, raw materials and maintaining high-quality standards. Not everyone is willing to take the risk,” the directors said.
