Bhaskar Chakraborty joins JW Marriott Kolkata as Executive Pastry Chef

JW Marriott Kolkata appoints Bhaskar Chakraborty as the Executive Pastry Chef. With an illustrious career spanning over 12 years in the hospitality industry, Chef Bhaskar brings a dynamic and innovative energy to JW Marriott Kolkata’s eclectic culinary scene. 

The chef’s strong values of promptness, creativity and his rootedness in gastronomic traditions have been the stepping stones of his exponential success. Providing strategic and tactical leadership in facilitating overall performance of the baking department of the hotel, supervising teams to deliver excellent service along with retaining valued customers are some of his key responsibilities.

His astute knowledge of desserts and pastries, their preparation, flavours and presentation makes him a coveted name in the hospitality world. His firm belief in quality ingredients, the precise method and maintaining consistency throughout his career has given him the accolade of an excellent pâtissier.

After successfully completing his degree in Bachelor of Hotel Management in Hospitality, Chakraborty started his career with The Oberoi Grand Kolkata in the year 2009 as a Commis chef and moved to The Oberoi Delhi as Chef De Partie in the year 2012 and later joined The Leela Palace Bangalore in 2014 as a Kitchen Executive. He has also worked with The Oberoi Group Mauritius in 2014 and One and Only Royal Mirage, Dubai in 2016 as Sous Chef Pastry where he looked after the pastry division for 17 restaurants. Prior joining JW Marriott Kolkata, this culinary aficionado played a pivotal role in Sheraton Grand Hotel and Convention centre Bengaluru in 2018 as a Pastry Chef where he brought out his global expertise.

An exceptionally committed and dedicated hotelier with strong work ethics, excellent planning skills, he loves creating something new and out of the box in order to evolve with the moving times. His strong dexterity comes from his vast experiences and extensive cognizance by associating with the national and international brands.

Chakraborty is an adventure lover, a fish keeper and in his free time he likes to sketch and read detective stories.
