BW Hotelier Indian Hospitality Summit & Awards (IHA), a ground-breaking event has let the grand and exquisite event speak for itself for the last eight years. Adding another string to the bow, we are thrilled to announce that Union Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat will grace the 8th edition of BWH IHA-2024 as the Chief Guest. Shekhawat, a seasoned political leader and an advocate for sustainable development, has been appointed as the Union Cabinet Minister of Culture and Minister of Tourism as of June 9, 2024. Born in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, Shekhawat holds a Master's degree in Philosophy from JNV University, Jodhpur. His political career spans over two decades, marked by significant contributions to rural and water resource development, environmental policy, and the agriculture sector.
Shekhawat was re-elected to the 18th Lok Sabha in June 2024 and previously served as the Union Cabinet Minister for Jal Shakti from May 2019. From September 2017 to May 2019, he was the Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, where he played a pivotal role in driving strategic initiatives for the welfare of the agricultural community. Apart from his political contributions, his extensive experience across sectors, combined with his deep understanding of environmental and industrial development, positions him as a key figure in shaping India's tourism and cultural policies.
