Union Minister of Culture and Tourism Gajendra Singh Shekhawat graces IHA 2024

The two-day summit and award was graced by Union Minister of Culture and Tourism Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and other industry dignitaries, veterans and experts

The eighth edition of the prestigious BW Hotelier Indian Hospitality Summit & Awards (IHA 2024) commenced with a tribute to Ratan Tata for his immense contribution to the hospitality industry in India. Hosted by Sidharth Kannan, the event was graced by Chief Guest Union Minister of Culture and Tourism Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and other industry dignitaries, veterans and experts.

Bhuvanesh Khanna, Chief Executive Officer, BW Hotelier stated, “We curate themes and topics according to what the industry needs, we are on the cusp of revolution for the hospitality industry contributing towards various sectors, it reflects with the theme of Revolutionising Indian Hospitality.”

KB Kachru, Chairman - South Asia, Radisson Hotel Group, welcomed Union Minister of Tourism Shekhawat stating, “The Indian tourism industry just had 3 per cent contribution to global tourism in 1947. Today, we stand at 7 per cent. We are already at an ascent and it shows the potential of the industry.”

Union Minister of Culture and Tourism Gajendra Singh Shekhawat along with Bhuvanesh Khanna and other dignitaries lit the lamp to commence the two-day summit and awards. He was felicitated by Khanna,

Shekhawat stated, “We have made a lot of progress economically under the current government, India has become a hot travel destination, we have become the hub for travel and investment. We have immense potential to grow, like the tourism and hospitality sector. When I sat down with top delegates from Google, I was amazed to hear that over 29 per cent of the people on Google have searched for tourism in India.”
 

He further added, “The potential of domestic tourism in India and the potential of the country as a tourism destination has increased with the infrastructure of the nations, WTTC has ranked the nation at the 24th position globally but our domestic travel and tourism sector has contributed significantly. The government is actively working towards improving the sector in the nation through various initiatives. I thank Bhuvanesh Khanna and BW Hotelier for hosting the event.”

The two-day BW Hotelier Indian Hospitality Summit & Awards (IHA 2024) encompassed over 20 sessions where hospitality veterans and experts across the nation gathered in order to provide diverse knowledge and insights. The Summit & Awards is a testament to BW Hotelier’s commitment towards revolutionising Indian hospitality by honouring the Crème de la crème of the industry.
