This World Environment Day, IHCL takes new strides on its sustainability journey

Joins hands with United Way and launches interventions for waste management

On World Environment Day, Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) continues on its sustainability journey under its ESG+ framework of Paathya. It launched a new waste management initiative - Interventions in partnership with United Way Mumbai.

Gaurav Pokhariyal, Executive Vice President – Human Resources, IHCL, said, “Under our ESG+ framework - Paathya, Interventions aims to address the critical waste management challenges in Mumbai. We are confident that the collaboration with United Way Mumbai and the active participation of the local community will pave the way for a more sustainable future.”

Interventions will help raising community awareness, create engagement through educational workshops and organise annual waste collection drives in schools and colleges apart from daily clean up drives and waste segregation. This partnership will adopt Mahim Reti Bunder and Mahim Causeway in Mumbai for a multifaceted approach to waste management.

Driving positive impact, Paathya, IHCL’s ESG+ framework continues to create value for all its stakeholders. IHCL is committed to using 50% of energy from renewable sources. Currently, 43 hotels have adopted renewable energy, and seven hotels are powered by 100% green energy. EarthCheck Certification for 88 IHCL hotels with 59 Platinum recognitions, largest in the global tourism industry, in addition to introducing bottling plants across 40 hotels to replace all plastic water bottles with reusable glass bottles.

Setting a green standard, IHCL recently introduced Innergise Green Meetings, a sustainable solution for corporate meetings and conferencing needs. The customised meetings offer guests a choice to reduce their carbon footprint and contribute to a more sustainable future.
