The Catwalk Cuisine

FOOD LIKE fashion keeps on reinventing itself. One might think that food and fashion have just a flirty attraction with one another but food's fixation with fashion runs quite deep. Like fashion, food is deep rooted in history, driven by the latest trends and seasonality and generates a great deal of hype. High fashion and haute cuisine today go together as art forms. Be it in the Versace show plates, Dolce & Gabbana's tribute to pasta in their 2012 collection or then even the outrageous Meat dress sported by Lady Gaga back in 2010, the relationship between fashion and food is here to stay. Today we wear our cake and eat it too!

I love fashion and I love food. So when the 2 come together it's a match made in heaven.
Over the weekend the fashion portal Stylecracker.com launched the SCPod, a pop up shopping experience at the popular gastrobar Hoppipola. Offering the latest shopping must haves as you bite into the restaurants signature dishes. The most interesting part of this festival was the Stylecracker styled menus which paired hummus with high heels and salads with selfie sticks! For those fashion cravings, brands like London Diaries and Opium Eyewear were present to satiate your appetite. On the other hand while you dine, the Stylecracker stylists were around to fill your stomach with fashion tips, mostly sweet and packed with a crunch.  Going on for another three weekends across a variety of different diners those looking out for something different to do now know just where to go! It truly is a feast for the fashionista.
On the topic of fashion, the city's most fashionable residences - Taj Wellington Mews just received a makeover. New upholstery finds home in their rooms featuring handmade weaves and wood work art pieces. The blinds adorned in tussah silk fall like tresses and compliment the abstract patterns of the violet tinted carpets. What's more their all day eatery - Weli Deli too got redressed sporting trending statement artefacts and vibrant sunlight, fuchsia and indigo  hues. "As a luxury home we wanted to make the environment warm and welcoming and hence our rooms have been redesigned using rich India colours and weaves reinvented in a contemporary avatar.", said Anmol Ahluwalia, General Manager. Styled by Sue Freeman this marks the beginning of a series of stylish improvements planned over the coming year.

Today a meal at Le Cirque at the Leela Palace in New Delhi trumps the cost of Steve Madden stilettos. A table at Noma is as hard to get as the latest Berkin. The paparazzi outside the launch of a new restaurant equals the shutterbugs at award shows. And the fan following of chefs compare to those of filmstars!
