In a significant move to lessen its carbon footprint and reinforce its eco-friendly practices, Shangri-La Eros New Delhi has announced the launch of its in-house water bottling plant, ‘Essence’.
Dedicated to providing high-calibre amenities and an exceptional guest experience, Shangri-La Eros New Delhi has long been committed to sustainable conservation within the hospitality industry. With project ‘Essence', the hotel now filters, purifies, and bottles drinking water on-site, ensuring clarity, cleanliness, and safety. This initiative seamlessly aligns with the hotel’s environmental philosophy and aims to preserve indigenous ecosystems.
The bottling plant employs groundbreaking CDI (Capacitive Deionisation) technology, demonstrating the hotel’s dedication to environmental sustainability. CDI technology efficiently removes salts from ground or surface water without the use of harmful chemicals or membrane filters. Each drop of water undergoes meticulous refinement through a series of filtration stages, followed by the introduction of ozone, a disinfectant far superior to chlorine.
The programme provides fresh water to guests in sterilised and sealed glass bottles, eliminating an estimated 122,304 single-use plastic bottles in approximately two-and-a-half months. This bottled water is now a permanent amenity in all guest rooms, food and beverage outlets, and event spaces.
Shangri-La Eros New Delhi continues its efforts to eradicate single-use plastic across its operations, with the newly installed water bottling plant marking a significant step towards sustainability and meaningful guest experiences.
