Radisson Blu in Bengaluru, Outer Ring Road became the first hotel in India to receive the LEED V 4.1 Platinum Certificate for Operations and Maintenance of an Existing Building, awarded by the US Green Building Council.
This recognition stems from numerous sustainability initiatives, including operating as a net zero energy building powered entirely by its solar energy plant and utilising a fleet of electric vehicles for guest transportation. The hotel features an on-site biogas plant that converts waste into cooking fuel, thereby promoting circular waste management and eliminating non-organic fertilisers. Additionally, it has implemented an in-house water bottling system, successfully reducing single-use plastic waste by over a tonne annually. To further enhance water conservation, Radisson Blu employs a rainwater capture system and an effluent treatment plant to recycle laundry water.
Austin Roach, Chairman, Radisson Blu Bengaluru Outer Ring Road commented, “At Radisson Blu, Bengaluru, Outer Ring Road, sustainability is not about following a trend, but is a sincere way of life. We are deeply committed to the environment and we are acutely aware of the impact that the hospitality industry alone can have on our planet. We are honoured to have been awarded LEED Platinum certification, which is a recognition of our efforts and impetus for us to do even more, to continue creating a positive environmental impact.”
