Malaysia Airlines expands NDC Partnership with Amadeus

The partnership aims to enhance offerings for Indian Travel Agents with access to Malaysia Airlines lowest promotional fares and a range of value-added services

Malaysia Airlines has strengthened its long-standing partnership with Amadeus, a leading provider of advanced technology solutions for the global travel industry, by rolling out New Distribution Capability (NDC)-sourced content for Amadeus-connected travel agents in India. This strategic move is set to provide significant benefits to travel agents, offering them exclusive access to Malaysia Airlines' lowest promotional fares and a range of value-added services.

The NDC platform empowers travel agents with enhanced tools, enabling them to offer their customers a more comprehensive selection of services, including extra baggage options, seat selection, and lounge access at attractive rates.

The technology partnership underscores the strong relationship between Malaysia Airlines and Amadeus. The two companies have collaborated extensively over the years, and in 2022, Malaysia Airlines renewed its Amadeus Altéa Passenger Service System (PSS) contract, further solidifying its commitment to utilising cutting-edge technology to enhance the travel experience. By integrating NDC-sourced content, Malaysia Airlines is not only improving its service offerings but also reaffirming its dedication to providing a seamless and customer-centric travel experience. This collaboration is expected to significantly boost the airline's presence in the Indian market, offering travel agents the tools they need to deliver superior service to their clients.

Dersenish Aresandiran, Chief Commercial Officer of Airlines from Malaysia Aviation Group commented, “Malaysia Airlines' adoption of NDC is a significant step towards modernising airline retail. Our partnership with Amadeus has been crucial in achieving our transformation goals. With NDC, we look forward to enhancing the shopping experience and allowing customers to personalise their travels, supporting our vision of becoming Asia’s leading travel and aviation services group."

Javier Laforgue, Executive Vice President, Travel Unit & Managing Director, Asia Pacific says, "Our partnership with Malaysia Airlines is another major milestone in our strategy to provide deep end-to-end integrations of content via NDC into the travel seller’s technical ecosystem, as well as supporting the industry’s ongoing retailing journey. With this deployment of NDC, we start building on the momentum made over the years to support modern retailing and once more demonstrating our commitment to continue offering through the Amadeus Travel Platform more travel content globally and at scale.”
