Lexicon IHM students craft a greener future on World Paper Bag Day

The students from the premier institution dedicated to cultivating future hospitality leaders demonstrated that small actions can lead to significant change.

On World Paper Bag Day, the students of Lexicon IHM took significant steps towards promoting sustainability by crafting and distributing paper bags to local shops. This initiative underscores the mission to highlight the importance of choosing paper over plastic, emphasising its critical role in the hospitality industry.

Celebrated annually on July 12, World Paper Bag Day reminds individuals and businesses to make environmentally conscious choices. This year, the participation from students at Lexicon IHM showcased their dedication to a greener planet. Farheen Belgaumwala, Learning & CSR Ambassador, Lexicon IHM, expressed her pride in the students' efforts: “We engage in eco-friendly activities at our college to instill a sense of social responsibility in our students, fostering a culture of community involvement and preparing them to contribute positively to the society. It’s encouraging to see future hospitality leaders actively participating in such meaningful initiatives.”

By participating in this event, Lexicon IHM students demonstrated that small actions can lead to significant change. Their initiative aligns with the institute’s broader commitment to fostering sustainable practices and environmental stewardship among its students. 

Chef Savita Patil, Vice Principal, Lexicon IHM, added, "Our students not only crafted these eco-friendly paper bags but also took the initiative to distribute them to nearby shops. This hands-on approach reinforces the importance of sustainability and community involvement, showcasing our commitment to nurturing socially responsible hospitality leaders.”
