CHEF ANGAD Rai’s coming on board the team at Kangan, the north-west frontier cuisine restaurant at The Westin Mumbai Garden City, was announced with a party held at the restaurant jointly hosted by Ashish Kumar Rai, General Manager of the hotel and Nicholas Ord, Brand Ambassador, Diagio-Reserve recently. The evening features food and whiskey pairings and also launched Chef Rai’s menu.
Chef Rai, a graduate from the Subhas Bose Institute of Hotel Management in 2005, began his career at Centurions, Pune in 2004. He has worked at Trident Bandra Kurla, Hotel InterContinental Marine Drive and the earstwhile Palladium Hotel (now the St Regis), all in Mumbai before taking up his current position as Chef de cuisine at The Westin.
The enhanced menu was be launched for diners on June 12, 2016. Along with the bestsellers of Kangan like Dal Kangan, Kakori Kebab and Nalli Nihari, the enhanced menu also had Chef Rai’s signature dishes like Kashmiri Seb Sabzi, Habibiya Gosht and Taar Korma amongst many others, according to a press release issued by the hotel.
At the event, Nicholas Ord took guests through pairing which included Kakori Seekh and Nadru Shikhampuri with Johnnie Walker Gold Label, a variety of mains like Taar Korma and Dal Kangan with Johnnie Walker Double Black Label, two styles of fragrant Biryani with Johnnie Walker Platinum 18 Label and select Kangan desserts with Johnnie Walker Blue Label Digestif.
