JEF FOSTER joins the Grand Hyatt Mumbai family as Executive Chef. With an enriching experience spanning across 25 years, Jef is truly an exemplification of Chef extraordinaire. His last assignment was at Hyatt Regency London - The Churchill as Executive Chef.
He became a chef at a young age as he took up a job at a restaurant in Sunset Beach California, soon after completing school to pay for the petrol and insurance of the car that his parents had gifted him. And then he was so mesmerized with the energy and environment of the kitchen that he chose this as his profession. Makes us believe that Foster was destined to be a chef.
Foster loves to experiment with various diverse cuisines mainly Italian, Spanish, and Asian and now even Indian. Chef loves to create food carefully sourced, thoughtfully served and is a passionate ambassador of sea food sustainability. He is thrilled with the diverse cuisine genres existing in our beautiful country and is exploring the nuances of Indian food one meal at a time.
An adventurous soul at heart, Foster loves to spend his free time outdoors engaging in an array of activities skiing, running, golf, tennis or scuba diving.
An American by birth, Foster has traveled across the world in various challenging roles with the Hyatt such as Long Beach California, Maui Hawaii, Belgrade Serbia & as mentioned London United Kingdom before his first assignment in India at the multidimensional lifestyle complex of Grand Hyatt Mumbai. When we asked him the secret of being a good Executive Chef, he said – “A chef must think like a scientist, Organize like an accountant, Plate like an artist, & cook like a grandma”.
