Jaisalmer Marriott shines as host of prestigious 55th GST Council Meeting

The gathering was organised by the GST Council Secretariat in collaboration with the Rajasthan Government

The Jaisalmer Marriott Resort & Spa recently hosted the 55th GST Council Meeting, held from December 20th to 22nd, transforming its venue into a showcase of luxury, culture, and world-class hospitality. Situated in the heart of the Golden City, the resort provided a backdrop for the high-profile event, where pivotal discussions on India’s economic policies took place.

The gathering, organised by the GST Council Secretariat in collaboration with the Rajasthan Government, brought together over 150 delegates, including Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari.

Reflecting on the event, General Manager, Shiv Bose shared, “It was an honour to host the 55th GST Council Meeting. Our team took immense pride in showcasing the culture and hospitality of Jaisalmer while providing an exceptional experience to the nation’s dignitaries. This event reinforces Jaisalmer’s reputation as a premier destination for high-profile events.”

The resort crafted a grand welcome for the dignitaries, featuring a shower of flower petals, mesmerising Rajasthani folk performances, and bespoke gifts. Guests were immersed in Jaisalmer’s royal heritage, with personalised amenities adding a touch of elegance.

The culinary offerings were equally remarkable. A specially curated Rajasthani Thali was presented to Finance Minister Sitharaman, highlighting dishes such as Dal Bati Churma, Ker Sangri, and Bajre Ki Khichdi. The “Taste of India” menu further showcased regional delicacies, including Kashmiri Dum Aloo, Chicken Chettinad, and Sorakaya Pulusu, delighting delegates with a diverse gastronomic journey.

The experience extended beyond the boardrooms. Delegates enjoyed a private performance by Padmashri Anwar Khan Manganiyar and his troupe, leaving them captivated by Rajasthan’s cultural richness.
