Post Covid, the luxury and uber-luxury segments have taken real shape, says Souvagya Mohapatra

The eighth edition of the prestigious BW Hotelier Indian Hospitality Summit & Awards (IHA 2024) hosted the BWH Leadership Dialogue: Regional leaders on India’s growth trajectory including industry veterans and experts, with moderator Nikhil Sharma, MD & Area Senior VP - South Asia, Radisson Hotel Group and panelists Sunjae Sharma, MD, India & Southwest Asia, Hyatt, Jatin Khanna, CEO, Sarovar Hotels along with Samir MC, Managing Director, Fortune Hotels as well as Souvagya Mohapatra, MD, Atmosphere Core - India, Nepal, Bhutan & Sri Lanka.

They discussed the topic of investment and development strategies for India’s emerging markets.
MC stated, “The real India is growing much faster outside the top 8-10 cities, and that’s where the opportunity for us, as well as for other brands, lies for growth.”
Mohapatra added, “Post Covid, the luxury and uber-luxury segments have taken real shape, and in 2022, we thought it to be the right time to enter these segments in India.”
“It took us 16 years to open the first 24 hotels. This year, we have already opened 20, and we’ll open four more in this calendar year. This shows the might of the mid-market, not just for Samovar but for everybody,” stated Khanna.
