IATA Appoints Bird Academy as Regional Training Partner in India

BIRD ACADEMY, the education vertical of Bird Group, has collaborated with the International Air Transport Association (IATA) to be its Regional Training Partner in India.

This partnership is aimed at developing human capital for the aviation industry in the country. Bird Academy will now be able to offer IATA’s 350 certified courses in India and will also conduct training sessions on behalf of IATA concentrated on topics such as passenger assessment and travel document checks, document control systems, safety management systems for airlines, passenger fares and ticketing, etc.

At the official announcement of the collaboration, Radha Bhatia, Chairperson, Bird Group, exclaimed that Bird Academy is delighted to collaborate with IATA for the task of developing human capital which today forms one of the most integral part of the aviation industry, not only in India but across the globe. “Bird Academy has been IATA’s one of the top performing authorised training centres for last seven years and is now privileged to become its first Regional Training Partner in India. Bird Academy has a commitment towards industry for educating and training people not only in India but also from our neighbouring countries such as Nepal, Afghanistan, etc., who would serve for the betterment of aviation industry.”

Conrad Clifford, Regional Vice President - Asia Pacific, IATA, stated that education and training of people in the aviation industry can be termed as soft infrastructure which is as important for the growth of aviation industry as is the hard infrastructure i.e. development of airports, runways, etc. He said that India has set a target of serving one billion passengers in next 15 to 20 years under its Vision 2035 and to achieve that target it requires skilled and trained human capital. “Bird Academy has been doing a commendable job since its inception and has been able deliver quite a lot of skilled man power to the aviation industry. We are positive that being the first Regional Training Partner of IATA in India, Bird Academy will further raise the bar of training people for the aviation industry.”

IATA has 21 Regional Training Partners across the globe with three in Asia. India becomes the third country after Malaysia and Sri Lanka to have a Regional Training Partner.

Clifford announced that on request of Bird Group, IATA will be organising its Global Training Partners Conference in New Delhi, India next year from April 10 to 12 at the Roseate House. He informed that IATA’s 450 partners from 91 countries will be participating at the conference.
