Being the brain child of Varun Chaudhary, the Executive Director of CG Corp Global, Wai Wai City is the first of its kind chain of quick service restaurants in its category.
Chuadhary shared his experience with CG Corp Global, “I have seen the organization and our portfolio grow from strength to strength since I first joined the business. What started as a humble textile business has made a mark in FMCG, hospitality, banking, cement, integrated industrial parks, real estate, consumer electronics, telecom, education, energy, biotech, financial services, QSR and retail.” He said.
The Company’s established food brand Wai Wai Noodles, today is a market leader with 27% of share. Speaking about the FMCG sector in India, Chaudhary said, “FMCG sector in India is perhaps the most dynamic and competitive. Customers are interested in new experiences, tastes, flavours, usability and functionality. This makes it an area of constant growth and product innovation. According to CII it is the fourth largest sector in India. Keeping this in mind, we have to make sure that the product remains embedded in the consumer’s mind as there are many options to choose from.”
CG Corp Global is a complex transnational conglomerate with differing verticals, geographies, brands and products. However, banking, hospitality and FMCG are the most successful business vertical, which generates maximum of revenues. “We are targeting to have 1500 noodle bars across a global footprint by 2022. This includes strategic tie-ups across Europe and North America as well.” said Chaudhary about his future plan on Wai Wai City.
Speaking about his views on hospitality Industry, Chaudhary said, “We see growth and development in all categories of the hotel industry from the luxury end to the budget hotels. The biggest growth is going to come from Tier two cities for both business travel and also leisure travel. There is going to be acceleration in the brand categories which operate in India.”
Chaudhary strongly supports the digital platforms to bring CG Corp Global closer to young customers and new audiences. Adding more to this he said, “we have always laid special emphasis on innovation and technology. From supply chain management, information delivery, cost efficiency and everything in between, we’ve employed the necessary tools to analyse each step. We are constantly evolving and adapting the way we interact with our employees, vendors and customers to ensure that we deliver the best services at the best price.”
