To honour the playful spirit of Lord Krishna's childhood, Goa is all set to organise the Chikhal Kalo Mud Festival 2024, under the Department of Tourism. The programme kicks off on July 16 with a cooking competition, followed by an evening of Ashadh Sari - Bhakti sangeet. Local talents Hrishikesh Dhawlikar (Zee Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Little Champs finalist), Vishwajeet Mestri and Siddhi Surlakar will set the stage alight with their music. The day concludes with a formal inauguration ceremony followed by an Abhangwari concert featuring singer Mahesh Kale.
Rohan A Khaunte, Minister for Tourism, Information Technology, Electronics and Communications, and Printing and Stationery, stated, "We are proud to support such initiatives that not only celebrate our past but also contribute to the vibrant tourism sector, fostering economic growth and cultural exchange.”
The main event, the Chikhal Kalo celebrations, takes centre stage on July 18, scheduled to take place at the Shree Devki Krishna Temple in Marcel, Goa. Prepared to embrace the playful tradition of mud baths and revel in the joyous spirit of the festival. The day doesn't end there! A Photography and Reel making competition encourages creative minds to capture the vibrant essence of the festival. “The Chikhal Kalo Mud Festival exemplifies the essence of Goan spirit and hospitality," Khaunte added.
