Finnair is rolling out refreshed cabins across its Embraer fleet, aiming to enhance passenger comfort on shorter European routes. The first upgraded Embraer aircraft is complete, and the airline plans to modernise all 12 aircraft by spring 2026. Seven of these planes will undergo refurbishments this winter, with the remaining upgrades scheduled for the 2025–2026 winter season.
Used extensively for Finnair’s routes within Finland and Northern and Central Europe, the Embraer fleet's updates bring a fresh look in line with Finnair's wider cabin renovations and the recently updated Schengen lounge at Helsinki Airport. The new cabins retain the fleet’s existing 100-seat configuration in the E190 aircraft but include upgraded LED lighting for an enhanced in-flight ambiance.
"We wanted to create a harmonious, fresh and inviting travel environment for our customers, with dark blue and grey colours and a hint of wooden laminate – elements familiar from our long-haul aircraft," says Eerika Enne, Head of Inflight Customer Experience.
"The renewed cabin will feature two new seats. The seats on rows 1– 9 offer a bit of additional comfort thanks to its design and cushioning. The seats in the first rows recline slightly, while from row 10, the seat does not recline. The service concept will remain unchanged in connection with the cabin renewal," says Enne.
The cabin renewal also prioritises sustainability. Finnair focussed on lightweight materials, reducing the overall weight of the aircraft to cut fuel consumption and lower carbon emissions, reinforcing its commitment to environmentally conscious operations.
