Balancing business and leisure

Novotel Mumbai Juhu Beach, under General Manager Vishal Gupta’s leadership, exemplifies excellence, offering diverse dining, personalised experiences and adaptation to evolving trends

Novotel Mumbai Juhu Beach remains steadfast in its pursuit of excellence, constantly adapting to evolving trends and guest expectations. Its strategic location, coupled with the commitment to sustainability, has solidified the property’s position as a premier accommodation choice in the city. “As we look ahead, we remain dedicated to pushing boundaries, exploring innovative solutions, and redefining the hospitality experience for our esteemed guests, ensuring that every stay with us is truly memorable,” says General Manager Vishal Gupta.

“Over the years, Novotel Mumbai Juhu Beach has achieved an iconic status for good reason. A large part of our legacy is owed to our exceptional service, commitment to Accor values and guest-centric approach,” shares Gupta. He further emphasises that in the bustling metropolis of Mumbai, the hotel offers a serene seaside retreat, enabling guests to escape the city’s hustle without leaving its confines. This unique positioning is a significant draw for the guests.

“Another key attraction is our acclaimed restaurants, each offering a distinct and exquisite dining experience. What truly sets us apart is our dedication to personalised service. We tailor each guest’s stay to their individual preferences and requests, ensuring a memorable experience that resonates long after they have departed,” highlights Gupta.

Diverse offerings fuel success
“Beyond our room inventory, several factors drive our business success,” explains Gupta. He continues, “Our restaurants have achieved cult status in Mumbai’s dining scene, significantly contributing to our revenue. “Post-pandemic, there has been a surge in demand for beachfront weddings and open-air events. Our event spaces, known for their location and quality of service, have become increasingly popular,” he elaborates.

Speaking of the hotel’s wellness facilities, the GM asserts, “They are vital to our sustained success and appeal.” Highlighting the hotel’s performance, he shares, “2023 was our best-performing year. In 2024, our focus has been on maintaining the exemplary performance by enhancing the customer experience across rooms, F&B outlets and banquet spaces.”

Unveiling Insights
“Novotel Mumbai Juhu Beach stands as one of the busiest hotels in the city. Over the past year, we have maintained consistently high occupancy rates without experiencing an off-peak period,” reveals Gupta. The property has witnessed a sustainable increase in its Average Daily Rate (ADR), he informs.

Describing the hotel’s unique positioning, he states, “As a bleisure hotel, we cater to a dynamic occupancy profile. Weekdays primarily host business travellers, mostly from Tier I cities, while weekends see an influx of leisure guests, predominantly from nearby states within India, the Middle East and Europe,” says Gupta, adding this diverse guest mix underscores the hotel’s broad appeal and ability to cater to varied traveller requirements.

Culinary Odyssey
“At Novotel Mumbai Juhu Beach, our dining options are as diverse as they are uniquely tailored. We house Péché Mignon, Juhu’s first French patisserie, offering freshly baked bread and sweet treats throughout the day,” Gupta explains. “Sampan, our signature Chinese restaurant, is a crowd favourite. Chef Penpa’s legacy and mastery in authentic Sichuan and Indo-Chinese cuisine have made it a must-visit destination,” he shares.

Describing Gadda Da Vida, Gupta enthuses, “It’s renowned for sundowners in Mumbai. Our crafted cocktails, paired with an unrestricted view of the Juhu sunset, create an unparalleled experience. Also, in response to popular demand, we have remodelled our seasonal North-Indian restaurant, Bageecha, to suit the monsoon season. Its new look, reminiscent of a roadside dhaba, evokes comforting memories of long rainy drives and hearty meals.”

“Lastly, The Square, our all-day dining outlet, is synonymous with grand buffets. From our popular midnight buffets to extravagant weekend brunches, it caters to diverse palates round-the-clock,” mentions Gupta.

Balancing Business and Leisure Needs
“We strive to cater to the diverse needs of both business and leisure travellers. For business travellers, proximity to key destinations is paramount. Our hotel’s strategic location near the airport ensures a seamless and hassle-free arrival and departure experience,” says Gupta. Highlighting further, he notes, “Additionally, our close proximity to popular corporate hubs such as BKC and other business centres allows guests to optimise their time and travel efficiently.” Switching focus to leisure travellers, the GM states, “Leisure travellers seek personalised experiences and cherished memories. Our seasoned guest experience team takes great pride in curating unique and tailored experiences for each guest.”

The hotel’s prime location offers a wealth of leisure opportunities, feels Gupta. “With stunning beach views and direct access to the sandy shores, guests can indulge in sun-soaked relaxation or invigorating water activities. Additionally, our proximity to popular bars, restaurants, and cultural attractions like the iconic Prithvi Theatre and ISKCON Temple ensures that our guests can immerse themselves in the vibrant local scene,” he explains.

Nurturing Nature
Sustainability is at the heart of operations at the property. “One of our key initiatives is the installation of an in-house bottling plant, which allows us to eliminate the use of single-use plastic water bottles. This move aligns with our commitment to reducing plastic waste and promoting eco-friendly alternatives,” elaborates Gupta. Expanding on their efforts, he states, “We have taken a firm stance against the use of single-use plastics across our operations. All our amenities, such as toiletries, are provided in dispensers or biodegradable packaging, minimising the need for plastic containers.”

“As a brand committed to staying ahead of the curve, the hotel continually monitors emerging trends in the hospitality industry,” says Gupta, adding one such trend we’ve observed is the growing emphasis on sustainability and eco-friendliness.

Another significant trend is the increasing demand for experiential travel. “Guests no longer seek just a place to stay; they desire unique experiences. Our beachside location offers guests the opportunity to escape the urban hustle and immerse themselves in a serene environment, creating unforgettable memories. We’re committed to providing experiences that go beyond the ordinary,” he explains.

The rise of remote work has led to the emergence of the ‘workation’ trend, opines Gupta. “Professionals seek accommodations that seamlessly blend work and leisure. Our property’s well-appointed rooms, along with high-speed internet connectivity, offer the ideal environment for guests to balance work and relaxation. By adapting to these evolving trends, we ensure that Novotel Mumbai Juhu Beach remains a preferred choice for modern travellers seeking memorable experiences,” he says.
