American Airlines Group Inc has announced the election of Howard Ungerleider to its board of directors, bringing a wealth of experience and expertise to the organisation. Ungerleider, will serve on both the Audit Committee and the Compensation Committee, leveraging his extensive background in financial and operational roles.
“We are very pleased to welcome Howard to American’s board of directors,” said Greg Smith, Chairman, American Airline. “Howard is an accomplished executive who has held key commercial, financial and operational roles over three decades at Dow. His financial expertise and global business and leadership experience will make him a valuable member of our board", Smith added.
Ungerleider is currently an operating advisor to Clayton, Dubilier & Rice. His previous role as President and CFO of Dow Inc. saw him as a member of Dow’s senior executive committee, responsible for strategic direction, corporate policy, and governance decisions. After a distinguished career spanning over three decades, he retired from Dow in January 2024.

His notable achievements include being named CFO in 2014, Vice Chairman in 2015, and President in 2018. From 2017 to 2019, Ungerleider also served as CFO of DowDuPont, a significant $86 billion holding company formed by the merger of Dow Chemical Company and DuPont. He also served on the board of Kyndryl Holdings, Inc.
