Agoda releases top five visa-free travel destinations for Indians

Agoda has released a list of the top five visa-free destinations favoured by Indian travellers in 2024, based on accommodation bookings. The leading locations are Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, and Nepal.

Notably, Thailand remains the most sought-after destination and has seen significant growth in accommodation searches following the introduction of a visa waiver for Indian tourists in November 2023. Malaysia also saw an increase in popularity, moving from eighth place in 2023 to fourth this year, after a similar visa waiver was enacted in December 2023.

Agoda's Chief Executive Officer, Omri Morgenshtern emphasised the impact of relaxed visa policies, stating, "We know that removing visa restrictions makes a huge difference to inbound tourism, and we see this across the globe."

Krishna Rathi, Senior Country Director India at Agoda, shared, "The interest among Indian travellers for these visa-free destinations underscores the importance of hassle-free travel. Indian travellers are increasingly seeking destinations that offer convenience and a variety of experiences without the need for enduring extensive visa procedures."
