Bijay Thakur New Head, HR
BIJAY KR Thakur has recently been appointed as Human Resources Head at The Leela Palace Chennai. With approximately 19 years of experience in HR operations, his scope of excellence entails, Human Capital Management, Strategy Planning, Training & Development, Performance and Compensation Management, People Management, Talent Acquisition, Statutory Compliance and Industrial Relations.
Thakur who holds a degree of MA in Labour and Social Welfare, started his career as a Personnel Assistant and worked with multiple brands like Hyatt, The Imperial, Hotel Leela Ventures Limited, Dusit Devarana Aerocity and held his last assignment as Director of Human Resources at Anya Gurgaon. During his tenure there he looked after the turnaround of business through strategic HR interventions, raising service excellence through high team morale and creating learning culture at workplace.
On being appointed as the Head of Human Resources at The Leela Palace Chennai, he says, “I wish to strategise HR partner by developing leadership pipeline to meet future needs, focus on Talent Acquisition and Development, Drive employee satisfaction through regular engagement activity, job chats and Career Planning.”
Amritham Umapathy New Rooms Division Manager
AMRITHAM UMAPATHY has recently been appointed as the Rooms Division Manager at The Leela Palace Chennai. A result oriented professional with over 20 years of experience in the areas of Accommodation Operation & Management in the hospitality industry. Held several positions in reputed organisations with responsibilities spread across a gamut of functions. Known as a proactive leader and with his rich experience and talent he is known to drive customer service operations with elan.
Umapathy started his career as a Housekeeping Team Leader at ITC Windsor Towers, Bangalore in 1995, after which he kept achieving greater heights by working with brands like ITC and Hyatt. He previous assignment was with Hyatt Regency Chennai as the Director of Rooms and before that he was associated with Park Hyatt Chennai where he played a vital role in pre-opening the property by setting up standards and procedures of the Rooms Division handling Front office, Housekeeping, Spa and Security departments. Here at The Leela Palace Chennai, he will be responsible for enhancing the Leela guest experience with his skills and managing the rooms division operations on a daily basis.
On being appointed as the Rooms Division Manager at The Leela Palace Chennai, he says, “My objective is to establish myself as successful Rooms Division expert and prove my Leadership & Management skills in different new environments. Also, I wish to contribute continuously with my gained experiences to the success of the company and build up my career further within the group and gain further knowledge.”
