Tourism Australia partners with David Warner to showcase top holiday destinations

Through this initiative, Tourism Australia aims to enhance its appeal as a preferred holiday destination for Indian tourists

Tourism Australia has launched a social content series featuring former Australian cricketer David Warner, spotlighting his favourite Australian holiday destinations and experiences in Sydney, Melbourne, and the Gold Coast.

The four-part series, shared on Tourism Australia’s Instagram account, @australia, has been unveiled in India just weeks ahead of the highly anticipated Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The five-Test series between Australia and India kicks off in Perth, Western Australia, on November 22, 2024.

Tourism Australia’s Managing Director, Phillipa Harrison, expressed excitement about collaborating with the former opening batsman. “Teaming up with David Warner allows us to connect with cricket fans across India,” she said.  “In the video series, David Warner issues a warm welcome to Indian travellers to experience some of his favourite holiday destinations in Australia including Melbourne’s iconic laneways, Sydney’s world famous Bondi coastal walk and the Gold Coast’s amazing wildlife,” Harrison said.

Harrison is also leading a delegation of 15 CEOs from Australia’s tourism industry to India to strengthen partnerships with key players in New Delhi and Mumbai. Between November 11 and 14, the delegation will engage with Indian tourism stakeholders, including airline partners Air India and IndiGo, and distribution giants MakeMyTrip and Thomas Cook, to reinforce Australia’s commitment to the Indian market.

David Warner said he is immensely proud to partner with Tourism Australia on the new social content series. “From our unique wildlife to our coffee culture, and icons like the Sydney Opera House and Melbourne Cricket Ground, Australia has so much to offer travellers from India, and I’m so excited to have the opportunity to show off our backyard,” he said.

The campaign and delegation efforts highlight Australia’s dedication to attracting Indian travellers, leveraging Warner’s popularity and cricket’s cultural significance in India to inspire travel to Australia.
