The values that we add are from the core pillar of sustainability: Gaurav Malhotra

Answering the question on how Hansgrohe brings value to bathroom designs with environment friendly products, Gaurav Malhotra began by quoting designer Philp Stark.

Malhotra said, “We are all prisoners of a throwaway society. The only way to escape is by creating sustainable designs.”

Speaking from Hansgrohe’s perspective Malhotra said that the core value of Hansgrohe is that of sustainability. There have been a lot of efforts on water conservation. He said that in the case of basin mixers and showers there have been a lot of efforts on lowering the flow of water without lowering the experience at all.

Furthermore, Malhotra said, “Nowadays a lot of people are opting for stone bathtubs thus another play around with the material. On vanities, you have people who go for recycled wood. Which again is a unique perspective.”

Speaking from a consumer’s perspective, Malhotra said “What puts me off is when the air is stale, and the environment is humid. So, the key aspects there are to use energy efficient lighting and energy efficient ventilation fans considering the human health aspect.”

“Adding plants into a bathroom is a beautiful aspect. They do add beauty and if there are health benefits then why not. So largely, it's about getting eco-friendly material, it's something which is good for the planet and very good for your pocket as well, Malhotra added.

Speaking on the innovations that Hansgrohe has applied for conservation in its products, Gaurav Malhotra said, “Luxury needs to be differentiated and be very exclusive. Hansgrohe’s core pillar is innovation and that resonates to this aspect. The second is that luxury is timeless. We work with designers all over the world who not only decide the design but also the material that goes into the final product so that you can be comfortable using the product and still feel luxurious using it. The third is the pursuit of excellence.”

“Hansgrohe has in the past worked with the filtration systems to capture the water and systems to reuse the heat that goes waste in a warm shower,” he added.
