New era at Finnair: Turkka Kuusisto named CEO

Turkka Kuusisto has taken over as the new CEO at Finnair. Formerly the CEO of Posti Group Corporation since 2020, Kuusisto brings a wealth of experience from his senior leadership roles at Posti Group Corporation and Lindorff Group.  

Sanna Suvanto-Harsaae, Chair of the Board of Directors at Finnair, commented, "Turkka Kuusisto joins Finnair to lead the next phases of its strategy. With the restoration of profitability following recent challenges, Finnair is well-positioned for a sustainable future, maintaining strong connections through its Helsinki hub." 

Suvanto-Harsaae acknowledged Kuusisto's skills in navigating complex industries and emphasised the benefit of his people leadership and strategy expertise for Finnair's strategic evolution. 

In response to his appointment, Turkka Kuusisto expressed his enthusiasm, stating, "Finnair embodies Finnish spirit and global connections with its century-old legacy. I am honoured to take on the role of CEO and look forward to collaborating with Finnair colleagues and listening to our customers for a successful journey." 

The current CEO, Topi Manner, will depart on January 15, 2024, assuming the role of CEO at Elisa Corporation. During the interim period between January 15 and the commencement of the new CEO, Jaakko Schildt, Chief Operating Officer of Finnair, will serve as the interim CEO.
