Making Korean Food Famous Globally

With the aim to make people aware of Korean food globally, Kim Yong Ho was fascinated by cooking since his childhood. “My mom and grandmom both were great cooks and took pleasure in cooking simple authentic Korean Food. I would spend time with them listening to their food philosophy, observing them work in the kitchen and by the time I finished my education, I knew I wanted to be a chef,” he told us.

Yong is a graduate from Industrial Design, Occupational Training College from Seoul Korea and had started his career in 2003 with Song Rim, Korean Restaurant, “I then went on to work with Holiday Inn Seongbuk Seoul, Courtyard by Marriott Seoul Times Square, Nest Hotel, Incheon to now I work at Sheraton Seoul D Cube City Hotel,” he said.

Chef Kim Yong Ho and Chef Park Se Hong had recently come to India all the way from Seoul to offer people a delicious traditional Korean dinner buffet experience at the Korean Food Festival organized by Le Meridien Gurgaon Delhi NCR.

Yong feels that the Korean food in India is not as popular as Chinese or Japanese cuisine. “Patrons who are well travelled and like to explore different cuisines are aware and even have their own favourite Korean dishes. But, then that’s our idea, to bring the Korean food to a global platform,” he said

“To make our guest aware of the Korean cuisine and get the taste of simple authentic Asian flavor. We have an elaborate buffet spread for dinner at the all-day dining restaurant of Le Meridien Gurgaon, Latest Recipe, then we have a la carte offering along with the set menu,” he added.

According to the Chef, they had kept some of the most popular dishes from Korean Cuisine on the menu such as Gimbap, Samgyetang (chicken with jujube), Pajeon (Korean pancakes), Jap Chae, Bibimbap, and Sujeonggwa.
