IndiGo airline, has introduced a premium travel option “IndiGoStretch” designed to meet the demands of business travellers on high-traffic routes. This new service will debut on November 14, 2024, with the first flight operating between Delhi and Mumbai.
At the launch event, IndiGo’s founder and Managing Director, Rahul Bhatia, and CEO Pieter Elbers, revealed IndiGoStretch’s business-focussed amenities with the slogan “IndiGo Means Business.” The announcement coincides with IndiGo’s 18th anniversary, marking nearly two decades of significant growth and innovation in Indian aviation.
IndiGoStretch offers a more refined experience than standard economy seating, with coupe-style seating in a two-seat wide layout, designed specifically to deliver comfort and convenience for business travellers. The seats, crafted by the well-known German manufacturer RECARO, feature a generous 38-inch pitch, 21.3-inch width, and a six-way adjustable headrest for enhanced neck support. The reclining feature extends to a depth of 5 inches, and an integrated electronic device holder, 60-watt USB-C charging, and universal power outlets ensure travellers can work seamlessly in-flight.
Pieter Elbers, Chief Executive Officer, IndiGo, said, “India’s economy is soaring and with the evolving aspirations of the Indian society, it is time for us to redefine accordingly. IndiGoStretch will create a desired option for many who are aiming to travel business, some of them seasoned and some perhaps for the first time in their life. It is an exciting time for Indian aviation and for IndiGo. By early January, all customers flying between Delhi and Mumbai will be on an IndiGoStretch aircraft and by March 2025, we would cover all flights from Delhi to Bengaluru and Chennai. In the next 14 months, 45 IndiGoStretch planes will be inducted in our fleet and we will ramp up to serve 12 routes with 268 daily flights.”
The onboard experience has been further elevated with exclusive meal options developed in partnership with Oberoi Flight Services. Travellers will enjoy meals that are both healthy and satisfying, curated with high-quality ingredients to complement the premium in-flight environment.
In addition to in-flight comfort, IndiGoStretch passengers receive a host of benefits aimed at enhancing convenience and efficiency. Perks include priority check-in, anytime boarding, advance seat selection, and exemption from convenience fees. IndiGoStretch also allows a substantial baggage allowance, providing business travellers with up to 30 kg across two check-in bags and 12 kg for cabin luggage.
