IHG Hotels & Resorts has announced a new multi-year partnership with global NGO Action Against Hunger in support of its work to combat food insecurity and hunger for millions of people around the world.
IHG, through thousands of hotels across more than 100 countries, has supported efforts to improve food security. This includes disaster relief and skills training as part of their Journey to Tomorrow responsible business plan, which aims to improve the lives of 30 million people.
Elie Maalouf, CEO, IHG Hotels & Resorts, stated, “Food is central to our hotels and hospitality, nourishing people and communities. Yet, despite enough food being produced to feed everyone, millions still face food shortages. This is a solvable problem if societies, organisations, and businesses collaborate. IHG Hotels & Resorts is proud to partner with Action Against Hunger on their lifesaving work, alongside our long-standing partnerships with incredible charities in local markets. Together, we aim to create lasting change in a world where people are always nourished, welcome, and respected.”
The group will support and fund Action Against Hunger’s nutrition programmes, focussing on screening initiatives to detect early signs of malnutrition in children and providing potentially lifesaving treatment through local community outreach programmes.
Ashwini Kakkar, Chairman, Action Against Hunger International Network, added, “While hunger is a widespread challenge, we have the unprecedented ability to end chronic hunger for good. Realising this vision requires bold action, and we are grateful for IHG’s commitment, wisdom, and leadership in advancing this vital cause. Hunger impedes millions of people worldwide from learning, working, dreaming, and achieving their full potential. IHG’s generous support will help advance our work towards a world where every life is well-nourished.”
IHG’s existing partnerships focussed on food security include collaborations with local food banks, No Kid Hungry in the US, OzHarvest in Australia, and Too Good To Go in Europe.
