Fairfield by Marriott Mumbai International Airport has appointed Iftekhar Mehdi as the new General Manager. With an illustrious career spanning over 27 years in the hospitality industry, Mehdi brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record of success to the role.
Mehdi is a commerce graduate from Mumbai University and holds a Diploma in Hotel Management. He has held various prominent positions in the hospitality sector, showcasing exceptional leadership and operational skills. Most recently, he served as the General Manager at Radisson Mumbai Goregaon, where he successfully managed a 98-room, 5-star property, maintaining an impressive occupancy rate of over 85 per cent and achieving a Gross Operating Profit (GOP) of 45 per cent.
During his tenure at Radisson Goregaon, Mehdi was instrumental in launching several successful ventures, including "Meetha by Radisson," the first exclusive Indian premier sweet shop within a hotel, and multiple restaurant outlets such as "Musaafer," an Indian progressive restaurant, and "GOMA," a Pan Asian restaurant. His innovative approach and commitment to excellence significantly enhanced the hotel's offerings and guest experience.
Before his role at Radisson Goregaon, he served as the General Manager at Residency Sarovar Portico, where he managed a 71-room, 4-star property. Under his leadership, the hotel consistently achieved budgeted occupancy levels and maintained a high position among the top hotels in Mumbai on TripAdvisor.
Mehdi’s journey in the hospitality industry began at The Residence Hotel Apartments Mumbai, where he rose through the ranks from a Front Office Associate to Assistant Front Office Manager. His diverse experience includes roles in revenue management, client relations, and front office operations, reflecting his deep understanding of hotel management and guest services.
