GRAND MERCURE Bangalore announced the appointment of it's new Executive Chef, Gopal Jha, who brings to the property a decade of culinary experience.
Gopal Jha has been with the hospitality industry for eleven years. He completed his Diploma in Hotel management from the Subhas Bose institute in Kolkata. Chef Jha has also done an Executive MBA in Finance from Karnataka Open University. As an Executive Chef at Grand Mercure Bangalore, he administers all kitchen operations related to food and beverage in the property.
Prior to joining Accor Hotels at Grand Mercure Bangalore in March 2017, Jha had worked with The Lalit - Golf & Spa Resort, Goa. A large part of his experience has also been in Patisserie, where he worked for eight years with noted hotel chains including Starwood, Taj and Hyatt International. He was a part of two pre-opening hotels with Hyatt. Jha brings in diverse experience along with him to this property.
Jha’s area of expertise is the European Cuisine, Oriental, Bakery and Patisserie. He has won a certificate for excellence in his previous roles. He has also got many unit level annual recognition at different hotels in India and abroad.
According to him, Creativity is crucial for this line of work. Jha says, “Every Chef must know the tradition and history of the food, as well as numerous ways to combine them. I think and experiment with combinations to the modern requirements, a general taste with a touch of something personal, and create new flavors by trying new ingredient.”
Jha believes that his impeccable attention to minute details and hard work has led to his success in the hospitality field.
