Bangkok’s riverside’s latest restaurant and lounge, Spice & Barley, has been declared the winner in the Restaurant - Brasserie category of the inaugural US-based LIV Hospitality Design Awards by a judging panel of international architecture and design professionals.
Owned by Bangkok-based Minor Hotels and designed by Patrick Keane from architecture studio Enter Projects Asia, the design installation for the Spice & Barley restaurant uses rattan sculptures and gold hues to fuse Thai tradition with modern design. Serving gastro food of Sichuan origin and specialising in craft beers, the restaurant’s location overlooking the Chao Phraya River also played a role in its design.
In its verdict, The LIV Awards judging panel described Spice & Barley’s design sensibilities as “intrinsic Asian Fusion”.
Commenting on the prestigious accolade for Spice & Barley that opened in September 2020, Mark O’Sullivan, Minor’s Bangkok Area General Manager, said, “We are thrilled to receive such high praise for our latest restaurant concept, and we are especially proud of the fact that this international award does not judge architecture and interior design only, but our valued patrons’ experience as well.”
The LIV Awards is one of the most comprehensive design competitions dedicated to hospitality design, uniting creativity, innovation, and guest experience. LIV Hospitality Design Awards is open to architects and interior designers around the world who have created incredible projects in Hospitality.
Spice & Barley is located on the third floor of Riverside Plaza at Avani+ Riverside Bangkok Hotel.
