The tour’s highlights included visits to iconic sites like Victoria Falls, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, thrilling experiences such as helicopter rides and bungee jumping, and game drives in Zambezi National Park

The Ministry of Tourism and Hospitality Industry, in partnership with the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority, successfully concluded the 17th edition of the Sanganai/Hlanganani World Tourism Expo, a premier event that positions Zimbabwe as a top travel destination. As part of the lead-up to this prestigious event, a handpicked group of Indian travel agents took an immersive educational tour of Zimbabwe from September 7 to 16, 2024.

The pre-tour itineraries highlighted Zimbabwe's vast tourism landscape, taking participants through the Eastern Highlands, Lake Kariba, and Great Zimbabwe. These journeys allowed agents to experience Zimbabwe's striking natural beauty, abundant wildlife, and luxury hospitality.

The pinnacle of the tour was the visit to Victoria Falls, one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The grandeur of the falls left the agents awe-inspired, while activities such as a Zambezi River sunset cruise, the Boma cultural experience, and thrilling helicopter rides and bungee jumping added layers of excitement and adventure. Wildlife enthusiasts enjoyed game drives in Zambezi National Park and walking safaris in Mana Pools, where they experienced up-close encounters with Africa’s iconic wildlife.

The tour also incorporated cultural experiences like the Simunye Theatrical and the Vulture Experience, demonstrating Zimbabwe's commitment to preserving its rich heritage and wildlife. Agents also visited several high-end lodges and hotels, showcasing Zimbabwe’s top-tier accommodations and world-class hospitality, further enhancing the country's appeal to luxury travellers.

The Ambassador of the Republic of Zimbabwe in New Delhi, Stella Nkomo, expressed excitement about the recent visit of Indian travel professionals stating “We are thrilled to have hosted the Indian travel trade in Zimbabwe, and with Victoria Falls Zimbabwe, alongside Namibia and South Africa, set to co-host the 2027 Cricket World Cup, we look forward to welcoming Indian travellers to experience our country's diverse wonders beyond the cricket pitch.”

Pranav Kapadia, Founder & Director of Global Destinations, praised the tour, stating that Zimbabwe’s unique beauty and rich experiences would greatly appeal to Indian tourists. He affirmed that the visit would strengthen ties between the Indian and Zimbabwean travel industries, with agents returning to India eager to promote Zimbabwe as a must-visit destination.

Zimbabwe's commitment to attracting Indian travellers is further demonstrated by its visa-on-arrival policy and strategic efforts to elevate India as one of its top five source markets within the next three years. With one of its 11 Tourism Attachés based in India, the country underscores its focus on fostering stronger tourism links with the Indian market.
