Rambha Palace, located on the banks of Chilika Lake in Odisha, has officially opened its doors, offering travellers a beautiful getaway. The palace, originally built in the 18th century, has been meticulously restored over six years by renowned tropical modernist architect Chana Daswatte. Now a part of "Hidden India's" luxury boutique hotel portfolio, Rambha Palace blends historical charm with modern comfort, providing guests with a great retreat.
Ecstatic upon the opening of the hotel, Himangini Singh, co-founder of Hunch Ventures, said, “The Palace is a testament to Odisha’s great historical significance and enables guests to experience its vibrant culture and traditions in all their grandeur and glory. The region’s beauty entices you into exploration and I’m eager to welcome guests to come and uncover Odisha through the lens of Rambha Palace.”
Guests can stay in one presidential villa or one of fourteen suites, all designed with traditional Odia art, Venetian chandeliers, antique Persian carpets, and 18th-century furniture. The hotel highlights Odisha’s rich cultural heritage with its thoughtful restoration and decor. It even offers stunning views of Chilika Lake, Asia’s largest saltwater lake, making it a prime spot for birdwatching, especially during winter when over a million birds, including flamingos, gather. Guests may also witness endangered Olive Ridley turtles and rare Irrawaddy dolphins during boat rides.
Rambha Palace emphasises mindfulness and slow living, offering Ayurvedic therapies at its Mantnam Spa and gourmet dining experiences that cater to vegan, Satvik, and wellness diets. The hotel features multiple dining venues, including riverside and poolside options, and plans to host art, music, and cultural programs soon.
