FLYING FOX is designed with the sole purpose of giving adventure lovers the ride of their lives – an exhilarating, aerial adventure that can never be forgotten. A combination of zipping and trekking, Flying Fox adheres to the European standard EN 15567 for high ropes courses.
Started in 2007, today Flying Fox has created five unique zip-line tour destinations – Rajasthan, Punjab and Uttarakhand – and the latest adventure in the foothills of Mount Kenya in Africa. Celebrating a decade of partnership with Neemrana Hotels, Flying Fox has recognised the potential of adventure tourism with different hotels and lodges as they require different types of relationships. “The deal is very simple. He explains, “We pay a base rent for use of their land and sales office, plus a revenue share top-up. It’s a win-win partnership,” said Jonathan Walter, Founder, Flying Fox.
Flying Fox is active on social media and plans to focus on B2C. “We want our travellers to be more aware of the services as we strongly believe in the value of human interaction and would continue to market it as an important service in the adventure tourism sector,” he said.
Walter has been able to generate interest from potential partners all over India and is currently looking at opportunities from Kashmir to Karnataka to grow business in the Indian market.
“Adventure tourism is still at an early stage, so there is immense opportunity to shape expectations as well as safety standards, which is both exciting and rewarding. There are great opportunities to work with the Forest Departments at the state level to open up adventure tourism, but current regulations make it very tricky. We would encourage the Centre to look at more creative ways to permit low-impact adventure tourism in forest areas - as this could be of huge benefit to both domestic and international tourism,” he said.
Tips to stay fit:
1. Make staying fit part of your daily routine - a little a day works much better than a body-busting trip to the gym every 3 months
2. Take the stairs out of the Metro instead of the escalator - they’re a lot less busy and a lot better for you!
3. The gym might be good to build bulging biceps, but I love yoga for creating core strength and mental focus. Make sure you have a good teacher: they’ll keep your stretching safe but also push you further than you would yourself.
4. Make time in your busy life to stay fit - it’s great for mental health too. In my first career in the British Army, the physical training instructors had a motto: “A fit mind in a fit body”. It’s really true - when I take exercise it’s not just about physical fitness, it clears my mind, it’s when I have some of my best ideas.
5. Make getting fit fun! Get out of the ‘smoke’ into the hills and forests. Within two hours from Delhi you could be Flying the Fox at Neemrana! Within 5 hours you could be rafting, hiking and zipping over the Ganges in Rishikesh.
