BANGALORE AS a market for the Hotel industry is very buoyant and the clients in the past few years have shown a fine taste in accommodation, food and beverage,” says Nischal Ayanna who has recently been appointed as the Director of Sales and Marketing at Radisson Blu Atria, Bangalore. His 14 years of experience in the hospitality industry brings in deep knowledge in the area of sales, business development, strategic planning, Mice and team management.
Hailing from Bangalore, Ayanna started his career in the Middle East with the Hotel brand Hyatt and Sheraton. Prior to joining Radisson Blu Atria Bangalore, Ayanna was associated with hotel brands such as Starwood, Hyatt, The Lalit and The Leela.
Commenting on the market of Bangalore, Ayanna said, “In Bangalore, the guests and clientele are very clear about what they need, be it luxury or convenience. This makes identifying the right target group for your hotel and the correct pricing the key. I’ve also had the privilege to work with different Sales Support tools and software across different hotel chains which provided market and competition intelligence which assisted in sales and revenue optimization.”
Ayanna’s core responsibilities will include maximizing hotels revenues through result oriented sales and marketing strategies. Adding more to this he said, “Tactical promotions during weekends like staycations and other seasonal packages & promotions will help maximize revenues and yield better ADR’s. Targeting the ever increasing demand in the wedding segment which is one of the only segments that is not impacted by the economy, market or weather conditions are another approach to have the base occupancies of the hotel filled up throughout the year.”
“We have noticed a lot of Merger & Acquisitions during 2016-17 and considerable amount of multinationals setting up base in Bangalore. Hence, corporates would be one of the main segments to target followed by MICE. Medical Tourism is also at an increase which is definitely a new segment to target with new speciality Hospitals coming up in the city,” said Ayanna while speaking about the targets.
Ayanna concluded by giving his own insights on the present scenario of the hospitality industry. “The increase in supply is across tiers of hotels like luxury, business and budget hotels which gives today’s ‘well aware’ traveller a lot of options to suite his/her needs, budget and travel time. Hence, loyalty and customer satisfaction must be one of the key focus areas with the increasing supply of various brands and categories of hotels,” he says.
