Radisson Udaipur Focusing on MICE and FIT Market

UDAIPUR CITY is on the way to be a smart city of India as per the government plan. This indicates the continuous growth in terms of business travellers those who would be seeking quality hotels. BW Hotelier spoke to Richard Barooah, General Manager, Radisson Udaipur to know about their plans as a business hotel.

Radisson Udaipur is strategically located in the heart city center along with the Lake city Mall designed in a way to fulfil the needs to business travellers. Sharing his view on the city and its potential, Barooah said, “Udaipur predominantly known in the world as a tourist destination, so mostly all the hotels are designed to take business from leisure segment and wedding segments and most of them are built to suit the need of tourist. So while Radisson Udaipur was opening we thought of going more futuristic keeping in mind the development of the city and its industries.”

Speaking about the MICE and the FIT market, Barooah said, “our major focus has always been in the corporate and business travellers, however our penetration into ecommerce is substantially much higher because of our stronger brand equity. We see over 30 per cent of FIT travellers and focus on high end MICE business which is of mid-size MICE.”

“Radisson Udaipur being a Carlson Rezidor managed property we drive our hotel with one great philosophy which is ‘Yes I can’”, says Barooah.

When asked how Radisson Udaipur excels in guest satisfaction among Carlson Rezidor in Southeast Asia, Barooah said, “As a hotel we do lots of data mining of our guests feedback be it from our internal feedback system like Medallia or comment card or on our daily courtesy calls. We also track guest feedback minutely from the external feedback platform which could be from TripAdvisor or any OTA portal.

“To be more proactive we also incentivize our team members who are recommended by our esteemed guest, this drives and motivate every team member always to deliver an elevate wow experience, he added.

Barooah has over 16 years of hands on experience in hospitality industry. With objective of providing strategic leadership and growth to an organization by achieving profitability for owners, he has worked in various countries like Singapore, Thailand and Germany in short and long term assignments.
