Mumbai: Wake Up City!

MUMBAI'S TRYST with the nocturnal began at Taj's Blow Up, Slip Disc, Cellar at The Oberoi and if these names aren't questionable enough the add Bullock Cart to the list!. Those were the days of the dancing lights, heart thumping music, flowing champagne, sprawling dance floors, DJ's, and diva's.

And guess what, they are all back! After a surprise re-entry in the early 2000's with Fire & Ice, Athena and Lush to name a few. It looks like nightclubs have finally made their comeback. Minus the bell-bottoms and headbands of course!

One of the first re-entrants on the scene was Tryst owned by seasoned hoteliers Jeetu Navlani and Rishi Acharya. A hot favourite among the young party goers, Tryst has continually reinvented itself to stay trendy and exciting.

After conquering Hyderabad, Pune and Gurgaon, Playboy made its Mumbai debut end 2016. Located inside the erstwhile Century Mills compound, Playboy is everything you would expect to enjoy from night of revelry. It’s dark, loud, over the top and packed with partygoers and pretty women.

The start of the New Year now brings to us yet another addition to Mumbai's nightlife
It's been over a century since the femme fatale Mata Hari was executed for being 'the greatest woman spy in history', but her legend lives on in the city's newest night club - Matahari at Atria Mall, Worli.

An ambitious project, Matahari boasts of a 7500 sq ft sprawling space and just like the famed exotic dancer, the nightclub too is rich, seductive and charming.

Owned by hotelier BR Shetty, Managing Director B&R Leisure Pvt. Ltd., co-owner & fashion designer Chanchal Shetty & Bobby Mukherji, the acclaimed architect, Matahari is every bit an experience. Right from the moment guests are welcomed by the imposing ceiling high gold foiled doors to the variety of rooms secretly tucked away in the space, you actually feel like you have stepped right into the boudoir of the temptress.

Designed by Paulomi Shah at the helm of all the creativity, the walls of Matahari whisper stories of secret affairs and decadent soirees, of champagne toasts, diamonds and gold. Divided into a room-in-room concept from the opulent stage to the tasteful vanity but by far the most interesting is the hidden members enclosure which is cleverly concealed by a trick door in keeping with the legendary tales of the iconic courtesan.

The food and drink menu has been conceptualized by well known influencer Nikhil Merchant keeping in sync with the theme. Five signature cocktails, with names synonymous to the dancer are offered. While the cuisine traverses the journey of Mata hari with Asian delicacies from sushi to baos, hot plates and steaming kebabs.

Mumbai much like Mata Hari has a way of luring you in and then keeping you addicted. Our city is both dark and secretive but at the same time rich and vibrant. Its where work and play blend seamlessly. Where moonlight effortless merges into sunrise and where pleasure finds its place.

With the launch of this newest addition to our nightlife, looks like Mumbai has finally met its match.
