'Gender is not Important, Hard work is!'

COURTYARD BY Marriott Mumbai International Airport, recently appointed Babita Kanwar as the General Manager. With over 22 years of experience in hotel sales and operations, Kanwar has been with the Marriott family for over 15 years now.

Speaking to BW Hotelier about the brand service strategies Kanwar began by saying, "Courtyard as a brand has defined its brand identity to align with an expanding younger target audience. Putting this strategy into action while we are operating at the hotel, it works in tandem to provide a human touch and a more relatable experience for our guests and potential customers," she says.

"We have recently partnered with Warner Brother’s for a Sunday Brunch series, ‘The Cartoon Brunch”, where we featured favorite foods of most popular fiction characters like Tom & Jerry’s Cheese, Scooby’s Scooby snack etc. This gave rise to India’s First & Only Official Cartoon Network and DC Comics Brunch," she added.

Kanwar feels that being a woman has never played a factor in the opportunities that were presented to her, but the results she has delivered over and over again in her various assignments ensured her success.

Elaborating on the digital initiatives kanwar says, "with Mobile Check-In and Check-Out on the Marriott Mobile App, we have successfully laid the foundation of our digital service platform to further our investment in future mobile-digital features. "

Kanwar continued that she likes to be the best in everything that drives her to be creative and find inspiration to be a cut above the rest. "The way I manage the team and work is by taking the team along with me on a journey of excellence.  Communication is the key - expectations, vision and end destination, guidance and consistent follow through." she says.

On asking about the future plans, Kanwar shared, "We are reinventing our food and beverage offerings in the hotel. We are working on a new concept restaurant that will position the hotels F&B in a new way," she concluded.
