FAIRFIELD By Marriott, part of Marriott International recently announced their expansion in Kathmandu, Nepal. This marks Marriott International’s entry into Nepal. The company has nearly 850 hotels around the world and is planning to further expand in South Asia.
Speaking to BW Hotelier, Prakash Jayadevan, General Manager, Fairfield by Marriott Kathmandu, said, “the tourism industry in Nepal is booming day by day so a lot of International Brands are opening their chain here in Nepal. Marriott is almost 90 years old now and have been around for almost a century.”
Jayadevan added that “Fairfield by Marriott Kathmandu is the first Marriott International hotel in Nepal ensuring high standards of service with its fresh, contemporary design, service excellence and great value for money.”
The hotel is located in Thamel, a place known as the centre for tourist industry, five kilometres from the airport.
“Fairfield by Marriott is designed for today’s traveler whether for business or leisure. We aim to set the standards of delivering a great hotel experience at an affordable price, through consistent and reliable service that comes from being a part of Marriott International,” Jayadevan said on their plan to promote the brand in Nepal.
Sharing his thoughts on the markets of both the countries Jayadevan elaborated, “India is now a mature market with domestic tourism forming the base of the travel industry. Apart from that a large corporate base ensures a significant percentage of corporate travelers. Whereas Nepal still depends a lot on international travelers. Domestic tourism is still in the nascent state and corporate travel is also very low.”
Fairfield by Marriott Kathmandu is the latest addition to the brand with four other currently opened hotels in India including Fairfield by Marriott Rajajinagar, Bengaluru, Fairfield by Marriott Outer Ring Road, Bengaluru, Fairfield by Marriott Lucknow and Fairfield by Marriott Belagavi, Karnataka.
